The Universe is comprised of many Realms. The Physical Realm in which we presently reside contains what we perceive as ordinary space-time. Known laws of physics operate only within this four dimensional space-time. The essence and structure of other Realms are defined and controlled in ways that we cannot describe in physical terms.

There is a Greater Spirit, known as God in our culture, and by many other names in other times and spaces. The Spirit of God exists within and without all Universal Realms and transcends all structure of time and space.

The true essence of all Life in the Universe is spiritual in nature. Every living entity is endowed with a spirit, which is not bound by the limitations of the Physical Realm. The spiritual essence of each individual entity is separate, but has the power to commune with God and other individuals. Although living entities belong to many Communities within each Realm, all may progress, individually and collectively, toward a perfect state.

In the Physical Realm, individuals progress through experience and understanding. The intellect, or mind, acts as a bridge between the physical and spiritual essences of each individual and helps to process knowledge and perception.

For those of us in the Human Community, progress in the Physical Realm requires us to seek knowledge and understanding of what we experience in our present state and environment. Each individual is at a different and unique place in his or her spiritual journey. That place is determined by past experience and progress; physical, intellectual and spiritual focus; acquisition of knowledge; and interaction with environment. There is no “wrong” place as long as an individual seeks knowledge, understanding and communion with the Spirit of God and fellow travelers. Each of us must determine what our spiritual reality is at present and acknowledge the fact that our reality will change as our intellect and spirit matures.

Although it is entirely possible for one to progress without human interaction, fellowship and community provide opportunities for individuals to share their experiences and perceptions. Group meetings, study sessions and purely social activities are invaluable opportunities to strengthen community bonds and build spiritual focus. In this way, fellow travelers help one another along the spiritual path.

Many churches and religious associations put great emphasis on ritual in their services. Although in a greater sense, ritual and ceremony are not necessary to spiritual fulfillment, these exercises can serve as a unifying and satisfying experience among members of a community. Communal interaction can also help to focus spiritual and intellectual energies and aid understanding.
